Mezna Qato

Biography

Mezna Qato teaches history and is Director of the Margaret Anstee Centre for Global Studies at Newnham College, University of Cambridge. She is co-convenor of the “Archives of the Disappeared” Research Initiative. Currently, Qato is completing a book on the history of education for Palestinians, focusing on its role in social regeneration after the Nakba. She has written on the conceptual work of settler-colonialism in Palestine studies, on scholasticide, on curricular, pedagogical, and archival captivity and retrieval, and histories of schooling in the West Bank and Gaza. She is a founding steering committee member of Librarians and Archivists with Palestine. She serves on the board of several Palestinian educational and cultural foundations and institutions, including the Qattan Foundation, Friends of Palestinian Universities, and MAKAN.
