Workshop

Introduction to Information Data Visualization

08.13.2019

Event Summary

Data visualization allows researchers to explore and then display data in ways to help tell a story about it. This workshop, hosted by the Research Computing Center and sponsored by the Neubauer Collegium VUE Project, will give a brief introduction to information data visualization and its theory and strategies. Common Python packages such as Bokeh and HoloViews, which help researchers implement such strategies, will be introduced. The event is designed to showcase different types of information data visualizations to people who have little to no experience or knowledge of data visualization methods. The tutorial will begin with an introduction to the concept of data visualization and a discussion of how to design a data visualization workflow. This will be followed by an introduction to useful functions on information data visualization methods—specifically, network visualization of text data and spatial data visualization on maps.
