This event, organized by the Movement Theory Lab, featured a public conversation with Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist Lara Kramer. Of mixed Oji-Cree and settler descent, Kramer grounds her work in intergenerational relations and knowledge, as well as the impacts of the Indian Residential Schools of Canada. Often blunt and raw, playing with corporeal strength and vulnerability, her pieces stand out for their engagement, sensitivity, and close and instinctive listening to the body. This conversation was offered as an introduction to the aesthetic, conceptual, and choreographic preoccupations that inform Kramer’s rigorous and thought-provoking oeuvre.
