What challenges are common to the presentation and interpretation of foundational texts, and how might digital remediation address those challenges? As they work to produce critical editions of exemplary texts from four distinct disciplines, including English (Shakespeare), Assyriology (Gilgamesh), Biblical Studies (the Hebrew Bible), and South Asian literature (Middle Bengali poetry), members of The CEDAR Project, sponsored by the Neubauer Collegium, hosted this symposium to discuss the practical conditions and hermeneutic opportunities that are raised by transcribing their variegated texts for use and study within the same software platform.
