Brett Goldstein
Biography
Brett Goldstein was the inaugural recipient of the Fellowship in Urban Science at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. Previously, he was the Commissioner and Chief Information Officer of the Chicago Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT), appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel in June of 2012 to accelerate Chicago’s growth as a global hub of innovation and technology. Goldstein was also the Chief Data Officer for the City of Chicago, the first position of this kind for a major municipality. In this role he led the city’s data strategy, helping to improve the way the city’s information works for its residents. He has provided counsel to Cabinet Secretaries and C suite executives in a variety of content areas, including national security, finance, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. He is also an advisor to several early and mid-stage start-ups.
