Biography
Nicole Hallett is Clinical Professor of Law and leads the Immigrants' Rights Clinic at the University of Chicago. She is an expert in domestic and regional migration law and policy; the intersection of migration and labor rights; federalism and judicial review in the U.S. immigration system; immigration and national security; and collective action and power-building in immigrant communities. She also is an immigration practitioner with experience representing migrants from over 60 countries, including most countries in the Western Hemisphere. She studies how U.S. refugee law and policy fail to adequately respond to migration crises and the political, legal, and cultural responses of destination countries such as the United States to mass migration events.
